The Novel ‘Titas Ekti Nadir Naam’ in the Light of Folk Culture: An Analysis

ABSTRACT
Forests or rivers have been the source of human civilization and culture since ancient times. We know that the diversity of human life are mainly dependent on the geography of the land. The river and its tributaries have influenced the culture, customs, religion, beliefs, literary works, food and clothing of the Malo community of the country. Advaita Malla Barman's novel 'Titas Ekti Nadir Naam' has highlighted the Malo’s culture and life of the Titas River and its tributary Malo’s and its rural life. This novel is about the life of Malo community living on the banks of a river called Titas in the Kumillah district (East Pakisthan).
The fishermen celebrates various festivals focusing on the river .The novel has been divided into four parts and each part has two chapters, and each of their stories has been depicted by the characters in various ways. The sorrows, laughter, love, worship, marriage, dance, songs, etc. of their lives are all narrated here. Despite the struggles of Malos, the celebrations on the banks of river always keep them joyous. In my discussion, I will discuss the various festivals of the Malo community of Titas river valley.
