Dr. Debjani Bhattacharyya, Associate professor, M.B.B.College, Agartala, West Tripura, India
ABSTRACT
Bijan Bhattacharya and Tulsi Lahiri, and the other being Digindra Bandyopadhyay, are the three names associated with the Bengali 'Gananatya Andolan' that are mentioned in the same breath. Playwright Digindra Chandra Banerjee was born on July 5, 1908, in Adabari, Vikrampur, Dhaka District, East Bengal, undivided Bengal. Being a child of lower middle class family. Drama and politics have been involved in Digindrachandra's life since the beginning. However, even though he kept pace with the anti-British national politics of the time for a period of his life, he did not tread the path later. But drama remained an integral part of his life forever. A large part of childhood and adolescence was spent in Adabari. And there, after seeing the theater in Durgamandap, a deep passion for drama was born . Non-cooperation movement was going on in the country while studying in Malkhanagar. The mind of the thirteen-year-old boy became agitated. The movement despises education Joined
Digindrachandra had a rebellious nature from childhood. So whenever he got any such movement, he jumped on it, so he joined the Congress civil disobedience movement in 32. Perhaps this nature of his made him enthusiastic about the communist ideology. He did not withdraw from the world of Bengali drama amid hundreds of marital problems. He passed away on April 12, 1990 AD. He has written about 20 complete plays, about 35-36 in total. There were also half a dozen children's dramas. His notable play 'Vastuvita'
The protagonist of the play 'Bastuvita' (1947) wanted to remain in his paternal bhadras, clinging to his Pathshala as a means of housing and livelihood, even after the creation of Partition-based East Pakistan. Hujuge did not want to leave Mete Bast. But where the country has been divided on the basis of religion, in front of the aggressive sectarian animosity, he had to leave his home in the end. Even though some of his Muslim friends were quite sympathetic to him, how long can the sand dam survive the black waves of the sea? And my article is about this play. Under the pressure of political situation, many Bengali families have to come and start living in different states like Tripura, Assam, West Bengal in India. Apart from that,  many Bengali families had to die at the hands of Muslims when their sons ran away from home, an attempt has been made in this article to analyze the various aspects.
Key words: political context, contemporary movement, middle-class society-family, partition, coordination.
