The Concept of Resources in Amiya Bhushan Majumdar's Novels

ABSTRACT | ||
The special role of setting in the
discussion of the novel can be seen from the beginning of the novel. Just as
the discussion of how and in what order the story of a narrative will be organized
belongs to the plot, so does the resource to clarify the geographical location
of that story or event. The author places the characters
of his story in a particular environment with respect to a particular period.
We consider setting as 'text without story duration'. That is, as the presence
of setting in the text can be direct or indirect, mobility or spatiality can
also be the characteristics of resources. In fact, it all depends on the
author's writing style and perspective. Setting in general refer to the natural
geography of an area, its surrounding environment and climate. Not only the
natural, but also the cultural geography of the region. Settings often play the
role of symbols in narratives. Forests, seas, deserts, paths, flowers, even the
light of the sunrise and the darkness of the sunset, replace their external
meaning in the narrative with a search for a different meaning. In this essay
we have tried to discuss the diversity of application of settings in some of
Amiyabhushan Majumder’s novels and its relevance in narrative with examples.
Nature has always added a different dimension to Amiyabhushan's composition.
His characters seem to have formed themselves by being united with nature.
Amiyabhushan loved to paint, so the diversity of his use of color in describing
setting is particularly noticeable. | ||
