ABSTRACT | ||
Even in the twenty-first century, women are still
victims of discrimination, neglect, and disregard in a patriarchal society.
While women in mainstream society strive to find their identity and place, the
overall condition of women in marginalized tea gardens becomes unimaginably
dire. In an era of artificial intelligence, where people are enjoying the
benefits of modernity through science and technology, the inhabitants of the
tea gardens in the Duars region of North Bengal remain backward in all socio-economic,
political, and cultural aspects. Storytellers from North Bengal have
attentively portrayed the intense suffering of tea garden women in their
narratives. This essay aims to objectively highlight that aspect.
