ABSTRACT | ||
Rabindranath Tagore is famous as a poet. The number of his poems is immense. Among that number, the number of patriotic poems is very small. But in that small space, hi has expressed deep love for his homeland. Under the British rule, the people of India were singing about their own culture. Rabindranath has repeatedly reminded the people of India in his poems. Hi started his patriotic poems with the poem ‘Hindu Melar Upahar’. At that time, hi was just a boy. This poem reveals his deep childhood feelings for his country. Hi got such a deep sense of patriotism from his family. Then, due to the impact of time and circumstances, his patriotism transformed. The proposal to partition Bengal by the British government in 1903 brought about a social and political change in the national life of India. At that time, the term Bangladesh meant both present-day Bangladesh and west Bengal. The first proposal to divide this undivided Bengal was made by Lord Curzon. This proposal was declared effective on 16th October 1905. The people of the who le of Bengal rose up in protest against this proposal. This movement stirred the people of Bengal with a sense of patriotism. At this time, Rabindranath played the role of a leader in the life of the people of Bengal. This movement brought about a change in his patriotic poetry. Before the movement, his patriotic poetry was more about the glory of ancient India. After the movement, it transformed into spiritual love. This change in Robindra’s patriotic poetry has been clarified in this article. | ||
