ABSTRACT | ||
‘Mayurakshi’
is the name of a river. Geographically, the Mayurakshi River flows through the
Birbhum and Murshidabad districts of West Bengal. The popular Bangladeshi
novelist Humayun Ahmed named one of his novel ‘Mayurakshi’. Although the story
in the novel has no connection to this actual river. In fact, it is a fictional
river created by the author and gifted to his beloved character, Himu. Himu
does the most unusual things that come to our subconscious mind. The character
of Himu is actually a vehicle for fulfilling the author's desires. The author
has created this character by diving into the anti-logical world of the human
subconscious mind. Himu's father killed Himu's mother when Himu was a child.
This created an incompleteness in Himu's subconscious mind for his mother. Himu
imagines a form of his mother. He finds the form of his mother through the
imagination of a Mayurakshi river. Bangladesh is a riverine country. The
relationship between people and rivers has been long-standing. Himu finds his mother
in the dream of the river. There is a part of our subconscious mind that does
not want to follow any logic. Humayun Ahmed has created Himu from the
anti-logical world by diving into our subconscious. Many of us have a latent
desire in our subconscious mind to become a wanderer. A wanderer who is loved
by everyone for their intelligence, who is ready to sacrifice, and for whom
beautiful women wait to return. Himu is actually a vehicle for fulfilling this
desire of our subconscious mind. | ||
