ABSTRACT | ||
The question of what poetry is ultimately has stirred and tormented poets and kind-hearted readers throughout the ages. From history, we know that from Jishu to Oppenheimer, poetry has been uttered in deep and troubled moments of life. However, we must also remember that poetry does not mean the poetry of a particular country or a particular time. Reading poetry from a predetermined perspective can give rise to a kind of blindness. As the poet Jeebananda thought, poetry should be revolutionary or uncompromising, or the spokesperson of society and religion etc…, Beyond these statements, we reach the understanding that a voice becomes meaningful, which is inexplicable at the slightest touch. The mysterious reader poet feels this inexplicable magical touch. The depth of reader’s feelings is therefore important in understanding poetry. | ||
