ABSTRACT | ||
Religion, Society, Culture, Science and self-social structure are all created by humans for the needs of humans. Human social life consists of human religious beliefs, folk culture, worship festivals, rituals, oral traditions, customs, etc. Bengali Buddhists are ancient inhabitants of the Bengali region. The Bengali Buddhists (Barua) of Chittagong, Bangladesh and other Buddhist communities. Among them, various superstitions, folk customs, folk culture and traditions are prevalent in religious and social activities. These are in various ways intertwined with religious worship, customs and social folk culture. According to history, various folk cultures, folk beliefs, and rituals have been established among Buddhists since ancient times. There are various religious rules and folk rituals practiced by Buddhists in this country at the time of birth, death, and marriage. Such as: offering alms, birth of a child, naming, offering food, beginning of education, initiation, ear and nose piercing, marriage, funeral, funeral rites, farewell sermons, etc. Among the marginal Buddhist tribes, there are folk beliefs, oral traditions, customs and traditions such as shrine worship, tree worship, vowing, Satyapir's Sinni, Alplani (Halkarshan festival), river worship, finding jinn-bhoot-pari, arrow-caster-doctor, Manasa worship, gods and goddesses, Maan, Buhyachakra, Radapoye, Chaitra Sankranti or Vaisavi etc. Apart from this, there are many other indigenous folk customs, beliefs, culture and oral traditions prevalent. The article under discussion reviews the social folk culture and oral traditions prevalent among the Buddhist community in Chittagong and its influence. | ||
